What to expect?
We were immediately guided to a comfortable double-sided deckchair at the marina, with views of Ain Dubai in the distance. After a short stroll through the premises that extend over the entire 50th floor, we head to the locker rooms equipped with Acqua di Parma equipment, dragging the large bag placed near each deckchair.
At this time of year, the afternoon session can bring a welcome breeze as you make your way into the swimming pool which meanders onto the chic terrace. We swam and strolled leisurely, enjoying the stunning views from one of the city’s most exquisite rooftop pools. Chill tunes and an eclectic vibe complete the experience, and even though there’s chatter in the air, we were still able to hang out with a good read.
Parched after our first dip, my dining partner and I scoured the drinks menu for a concoction. Inspired by iconic Asian cities, the drinks menu features innovative signature blends with yuzu, lemongrass and a variety of herbs and citrus that pack into a punch. Top off your drink with all-time favorite poolside snacks, including light and crispy Szechuan peppercorn squid with lime aioli and juicy, well-coated Dynamite rock prawns with Asian coleslaw.
For a more substantial bite, try the succulent Wagyu beef sliders with a richer beef bacon jam coating the inside of the potato bun, sitting alongside the marinated coleslaw and aioli with mustard on the pancake. With an explosion of flavors and textures in every bite, it’s the perfect sandwich to enjoy with a side of Smoked Gouda Truffle Fries. Gochujang’s Cauliflower Popcorn is another winner – a delicious vegetarian snack that’s crispy on the outside, coated in a chilli and honey glaze. The generously sized pieces are easy to fill, so we highly recommend sharing them, especially if you have your eyes set on the Yakitori selection.
Relax with your lovely concoction or take your pick from the list of grapes, while indulging in poolside food. Grab a few extra dips before sunset and when you get peckish, order the Balinese Chicken Satay with Peanut Sauce and the Malaysian Spice Rib Eye with Cold Dip – both incredibly tender bites with robust flavors that sink in deep below the surface.
The magical, orange sunset will leave you in awe as it tints the sky. Crowds tend to leave shortly after dusk, but stay until 7 p.m. to watch the brightly lit city come alive at night.
